Intimate Partner Violence Unit, Waterloo Regional Police Service

The IPV unit is comprised of trained officers who will conduct a thorough investigation and update victims on the arrest process and court proceedings. The unit contains a dedicated Victim Services Unit (VSU) that provides specialized support to victims of crime and members of the public by assisting them in dealing with the consequences of victimization or other tragic circumstances. The VSU provides crisis counselling, explanation of legal terms, liaises with police and the Crown Attorney’s office, and provides referrals to community agencies for ongoing counselling and other support services.
